Predictive Intelligence for Environmental Law Enforcement is an innovative, community-driven initiative that combines artificial intelligence with real-time reporting to combat environmental crimes such as illegal mining, wildlife trafficking, and deforestation. Using a multilingual WhatsApp chatbot, citizens can report incidents through text, images, voice notes, and videos, which are then analyzed by an AI-powered Data Hub using satellite imagery and machine learning to identify crime hotspots. Co-created with local youth and traditional leaders, the system generates actionable intelligence shared with law enforcement and environmental agencies to support timely interventions. Piloted successfully in northern Ghana, EcoScan AI is now poised for national and regional scale-up, offering a scalable model for data-driven, participatory environmental protection.
